2016-06-15 16:25:17 The "thing" that paparazzi does is, in my opinion, gross and invasive. I would be just as grossed out as she is. Also, you act like she's a Katy Perry or something... Floor has never sung in a project that big, nor has she ever sung the kind of music that is DESIGNED to reach mass audiences. Basically you're saying that nobody should ever want singing success if they don't want creepy invasive people taking pictures of you wherever you go.. which is f*cked up. There are many, many positive reasons Floor would want to sing in a band as big as Nightwish - that doesn't mean she has to be thrilled with the few negatives that go along with that.

2016-06-15 16:27:53 If a person is out IN PUBLIC, they have no reasonable expectation of privacy. If someone has a camera, they are allowed to take pictures of who they want whenever they want. You bet your ass Floor wanted to be famous, and now she acts like some spoiled bitch whever somebody wants to get a picture of her. She also won't let her fans hug her when they meet her after shows. She needs to grow up and realize that this is all part of being famous, which is what she is. And you need to grow up too and learn how the world works, son.

I primarily agree with because it never ceases to amaze me how these famous people craved, dreamed of, and deliberately sought attention and fame from childhood, then when they achieve it, believe they can remain private at their convenience. That's just delusional, and no one with an ounce of common sense would believe that, especially now when literally no one has any true privacy. I am a very private person and have an expectation of privacy, but if I step out my front door and drive to the grocery, I've probably been in the camera lens a dozen times. Even without leaving the house, my cell phone and computer communications are all monitored, tracked and indexed, and these, along with my TV, can be remotely made to WATCH me also. How much more if one is famous? "iCloud hack/fappening," anyone? On the other hand, while that is the extant situation, I agree with that none of what I just said is RIGHT, but that's the way it is. Even before such pervasive invasions of privacy in general, the Paparazzi were always a slimy lot in the ilk of private detectives spying on spouses, and used car salesmen. They do things like climb trees with long lenses to peer over fences and through home windows, rent helicopters to invade weddings, etc. Taking pictures on a public street is one thing, but they go to ridiculous extremes to violate any *reasonable* expectation of privacy even a celeb might have, like inside their home behind a privacy fence in a gated community. They have even interfered or provoked altercations in many cases which have caused car accidents, fights, etc. including allegedly Princess Dianna's death. But hey, ANYTHING to get that picture, eh? /> |

I think you guys are making the mistake of assuming that anyone who has attained some degree of celebrity has consciously sought it out. This ain't the pop scene. Floor sought to be established, recognized in her field for the monstrous talent she is - NOT to be a Taylor Swift or a Katy Perry in popularity. Nightwish's meteoric rise of course has meant that in some small parts of the world, they have attained tabloid status... but you're delusional if you actually thought that any member of the band DESIRED to become tabloid status. One can desire to be established and make a good living off of music without seeking to have slimy paparazzi taking pictures of you any time you leave the hotel room.
Prime example to me is "Limelight" by RUSH, in which Neil Peart, a dude who had attained some pretty hefty fame by that time, discusses how difficult it was for him to cope with all that extra attention. Neil never wanted that - he just wanted to be respected and known for his art. Floor is the same way, but has it 10x worse in my opinion because she's a woman. Also , I love the condescension... "son." Too bad. Always thought you were pretty cool. |

But, I maintain whether you want it or not, in our celeb-obsessed society/world and the Internet, it's just a fact of life now for anyone who attains even very modest celebrity status ("Dancing with the STARS," anyone?) If one wants to do what you say, the ought to be merely a studio musician and not tour. But even some of those like bassist Carol Kaye became fairly well-known (although she probably didn't have Paps in trees outside her home...)

2016-06-18 01:46:25 Nah... if someone is on stage performing art, the only thing you can assume they crave is attention FOR THEIR ART. The fact that they (especially if they are females, and especially if they are attractive females) happen to get a lot of other attention on the side as a pretty solid inevitability (because guys are pervs) doesn't mean that they have to be happy with it.
I also disagree slightly with on the sessions musician point... it's a pretty crap deal to say to an artist that you can't express yourself if you aren't thrilled with paparazzi taking pictures of you wherever you go. That's a shitty bargain that I hope no artist is cowed by. And again, just because creepy invasive paparazzi is a fact of life does not mean that those who are unfortunate enough to be subjected to that have to act like they're thrilled with it. |

While I do enjoy that we get to see more of her feet, at the same time, I am not so much into the creep factor that comes with candids like this shot. I would rather someone be willing and happy in a photograph. I met her twice, she is a down to earth intellectual and prefers to be low-key like the rest of us off the stage. 2016-06-22 04:49:09 And here's another point that I just thought of: Of all of the celebrities I see getting upset with paparazzi, flipping them off, swearing at them, covering their face, the vast majority of them seem to be women! Occasionally a male celebrity will do something, like when Sean Penn punched a photographer, or Vince Vaughn spit on one (he seems like a world-class prick anyway), but the majority of them are women. They seem to think they're entitled to more privacy than men. Most male celebrities seem to be cool with people taking their pictures, but them women always flip out about it, like they're all on their period at that moment or something. I'm really sick of female celebs thinking they should be held to a higher standard then male celebs. If you're in the public eye, you can't shut that eye when you want to!

Their lead singer was Emily Ovenden of Mediaeval Baebes, although she just left the band last year. They sound very similar to older Nightwish, when Tarja Turunen was their singer.

That's cool that you went to college in your 40's! Gives me hope that I could do something like that yet. Yes, vinyl is making a big comeback! I've started my own record collection in the last year, using some of my dad's and grandma's old records, and also buying older ones from thrift shops. I recently bought a bunch of Herb Alpert records, including "Whipped Cream And Other Delights", the greatest album cover of all time! I love the song "Paradise (What About Us?)". I've known it for a while. Tarja's voice is amazing. I still listen to Nightwish's "Once" album pretty often even though I've had it for 11 years. Love the other WT song, and also the Blackmore's Night song. She is hot. I love anything medieval. Here's one of my favorite Mediaeval Baebes songs, "Under The Willow Tree": /> You should also check out a band called Celtic Legend that Emily Ovenden was in. They put out only one album in 2007, but there's a few videos from it on youtube. She's barefoot in them! I'm so glad you like Pythia and that I could introduce you to them! Check out their songs "Oedipus" and "The Highwayman". Those are my favorites. I liked the VersaEmerge song too. I saw some comparisons to Paramore, and I definitely hear it. The singer is hot. I think she kinda looks like Gracie Glam. It's very nice chatting to you again! I didn't know we had this much in common. I'm so glad that Floor's feet could bring us together again! :D |

2016-02-14 03:10:10 Actually, after visiting her Instagram page, I've changed my opinion. I normally don't like tattoos, especially on feet, but reading what she said about this tattoo and how it celebrates evolution and life, as well as celebrating Nightwish (quite possibly my favorite band in the world right now), I'm seeing it differently. I love the fact that she chose to get such a meaningful tattoo that celebrates life on her foot of all places! I also celebrate life, and I celebrate Floor Jansen's feet too! :D
