2015-01-13 21:40:53 A generic comment, following the reading of history below, encapsulating very interesting times here barely 12 months ago when the new walls emerged, and when (from memory) Guild Chat hadn't come in yet, so we gasbagged on the walls, as below. Interesting from a point of view of certain elements here at the time were trying to impose their idea of what should, or shouldn't be here at, in a totally inflexible manner, and also totally inaccessible to wanting to understand alternate views to their own. Some are no longer here. They had the "my way, or the highway" attitude, and decided to take the highway out of here. Some eventually listened to, understood, and accepted alternate views and language, and we all happily co-exist now.

2015-01-13 21:45:05 I remember us all kinda walking on eggshells because we were still shell-shocked at the sudden and complete destruction of the Old Walls. We just woke up one day, logged on, and it was all gone.

"Clean Up" in cleaning up this site isn't a subjective phrase. Clean means CLEAN. It's not Rocket Science.

2014-02-26 05:20:49 , I've had my fun (like we all did) and as I have said let's all move on. But, the pics featured are not just of feet, so if i think someone is ugly from the ankles up or the ankles down i will say so.
It's not a cuss word. And all of you do me a favour and stop carrying on as if I was the only one. There's a dude called 54 who gave as good as he got. Why isn't anyone mentioning 54? Honestly, some of you are rather oversensitive, no? |

And it's even more distressing that Eli allows the trolls free reign and when they screw up...slap on the wrist, followed by a promise that they'll be good. Unacceptable. |

I explained my feeling on this issue last week to fellow guild members at the Liv Tyler gallery. I have always known the correct meaning of the word, but do not use it in that vulgar manner. I have always used the term "gamoto" with you(Grik) as a term of endearment when acknowledging your comments. Every one of my posts that say "gamoto" are used in this context, I have never used the word in any derogatory way whatsoever. As an example for someone reading this now who has never seen my comments to Grik in a gallery...just scroll down below and read our comments that were approved by fellow guild members....go ahead, take a look right now. Were simply acknowledging each other...no demeaning, rude, crude, or disparaging intent in our comments at all. |

2014-02-25 05:14:01 An interesting dialogue gentlemen, which necessitates comment from me. Firstly, I AM of Greek heritage. I have lived in Greece and my current homeland. Secondly, the phrase 'gamoto' is used by me not as a profanity but as a symbol of 'wow' so to speak. In Greece, it is usually used in a funny way. I quote from a Wikipaedia entry I just found, which is fair comment:
In Greece and Cyprus re is often accompanied by a slang word or a profanity, such as gamoto or gamoti (γαμώτο or γαμώτη), meaning f*ck!, an exclamation of fury, surprise or admiration that is considered vulgar.[5][6] In 1992, in her first statement to the Greek journalists minutes after the 100 m hurdles race at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Voula Patoulidou, the surprise winner, dedicated her medal to her home country by saying "Για την Ελλάδα, ρε γαμώτο" (Gia ten Ellada, re gamoto! Point of order - the reason Eli suspended me was for specific postings I did on a limited line of subjects which a certain race of people would have found offensive. It wasn't in the mainstream of subjects we all usually commented on. As for the well intended counselling of SHRED and his use of the word 'gamoto'. I suspect SHRED doesn't even know what it really meant??? SHRED? |
